I’m a Social Worker. What Benefit is There in Getting a Shelter Support Worker Certification?

While being a social worker certainly helps with the work you’ll be a part of within a shelter, a Shelter Support Worker Certification gives you the specific skill set needed to succeed within a shelter. 

Shelter workers must be able to:

• Understand and assist those who require services from homeless shelters
• Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
• Employ de-escalation and conflict-resolution strategies
• Anticipate and accommodate the needs of those with addictions or those who require mental health counselling services

Within our program, students will learn about daily life as a Shelter Support Worker. Our program is the best preparation for a career in this field, both for our students and the vulnerable individuals they’ll be working with once they are employed in shelters. 

How Much is Tuition, and How Is Payment Structured?

The program’s tuition is $1,499. You may pay this in one lump sum payment or two installments over the course of the program, accommodating your financial situation while allowing you to move forward with your education.
